Secretary to the Government of the Federation urges improved corporate governance in Federal Parastatals

“I hope that you will take this induction programme very seriously and leverage on the gains as I assure you of the unflinching support of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the discharge of your duties.” Those were the words of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, while declaring open the Batch 2 Induction Programme for Governing Board Members of the Federal Parastatals, Universities and Medical Center held on October 29, 2018.
 
Batch A of the Induction programme was held from 26th to 28th July, 2018. The induction, which was organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), in collaboration with PERL, is aimed at ensuring that Chief Executive Officers and Board Members of Federal Parastatals, Agencies, Universities, and Medical Centers understand their roles and responsibilities in achieving the vision and mandates of their institutions. 
 
Speaking on the impact of the Induction for Batch A participants, the SGF said “The Chairmen and Members of Boards of Federal Parastatals as well as their Chief Executives found the programme very educative and beneficial.”
 
He added that “The successes recorded from that programme have promoted effective good corporate governance practices in a number of Boards that attended the programme.”
