In recognition of PERL’s support to the development of the Free and Compulsory Basic and Post-Basic Education (FCBPE) roadmap of Kano State, the state government invited DFID and PERL to witness and make remarks during the presentation of N880 million cheques (N20 million per school) for the renovation of selected Basic Education (Primary/JSS) Schools in the 44 LGAs of state.

The presentation of cheques by the Executive Governor of the State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, took place on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kano. The renovation exercise is in line with the State’s commitment to make infrastructure available for FCBPE in the state.

The PERL programme had provided technical assistance to the state to develop a draft Roadmap for the FCBPE and to develop guidance for improving governance in the state. Speaking at the launching event, the Reform Manager of PERL-ARC in Kano, Mallam Auwalu Hamza, congratulated the Governor on the FCBPE and assured him of PERL's continued support to other reform areas such as Budget and Internal Revenue. Kano State is one of the partner states where the PERL programme is being implemented in Nigeria.
