Kano State Moves 9 Steps Towards World Bank State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS)

Kano State Government records performance-related improvements in the state’s Public Financial Management (PFM) functions as of March 2019. This information was divulged during a retreat on the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Programme Technical Assessment and PFM Action Plan development in Zaria, Kaduna State.

 

The improvement areas cut across the Office of the Head of Service, Kano State House of Assembly, Ministry of Planning and Budget, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Local Government, Office of the Auditor General and Kano State Internal Revenue Service.

 

A steering committee was set up with representation across responsible MDAs to support closing the gap on PFM practices. A self-assessment committee was also set up with the responsibility of assessing the state’s performance based on World Bank SFTAs accessibility criteria ahead of the SFTAs audit. This committee comprises of fewer representatives from responsible MDAs and Citizens Groups.
