Jigawa concludes Sector Performance Review process

Stakeholders across 7 critical sectors in Jigawa State gathered in Zaria to conclude the 2018 Sector Performance Review (SPR) process. The annual process is the first step in the State’s 2020 budgeting calendar.

Jigawa State Government requested technical support from DFID-PERL to facilitate the process of conducting 2018 Annual Sector Performance Review in 7 sectors that have developed and implemented Medium Term Sector Strategies (MTSSs). The commitment to this support is to provide technical guide the Sector Planning Teams (SPTs) and Sector Desk Officers (SDOs) to develop an inclusive SPR report for 2018 and provide the requisite benchmarks for the 2019 -2022 MTSS and the 2020 budgeting processes respectively.

Delivering his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Budget and Economic Planning Directorate, represented by the Director of Planning, Mallam Ibrahim Adamu appreciated DFID’s Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn (PERL) for its continued support to the process and commended stakeholders for their commitment in ensuring the timely conclusion of the process. “With PERL’s support, we were able to conclude the 2019 budget process by December 2018, this year we are committed to finishing much earlier,” he stated.

In his remarks, the reform manager for PERL in Jigawa State, Mr. Rasheed Adebesin commended the Budget and Economic Planning Directorate for taking ownership of the process and sustaining the reforms recorded in the planning sector over the years.

Present at the sessions were key Government officials from seven sectors, Civil Society Organizations, Community Based Organization and media groups.
