In a bid to deliver improved public services to Nigerian citizens, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, with the support of PERL-ARC, held a three-day retreat for the Project Management Team on Performance Management. The Project Management Team on Performance Management is made up of staff from the Office of Head of Service of the Federation, Ministry of Budget and National Planning, and the Federal Civil Service Commission.

The retreat, which commenced on 19th September 2018, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was aimed at evolving an action plan which will guide the implementation and institutionalization of an integrated Performance Management System in the Federal Civil Service in line with the Government’s Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP).

An effective performance management system will ensure that civil servants are adequately appraised and rewarded. It will also ensure that they are contributing to the mandate of their Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).

The retreat was attended by Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Directors from the Office of Head of Service of the Federation, Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Federal Civil Service Commission, and the departments of MDAs where the Performance Management system was test-run.
