The Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn is supporting the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to organise the 2nd quarter Community of Practice meeting for Heads of Secretaries to Governments across the Federation.

The meeting, which is holding in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria, from the 11th to 12th of August 2022 is focusing on Democratic Governance and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Opportunities in Key Sectors of the Economy. The Forum serves as a platform for promoting collaboration between Federal and States. It creates opportunities for cross-fertilisation of ideas across the tiers of government with a particular focus on the policy coordination role of the SGF/SSGs, for efficient coordination of government systems towards effective service delivery.

PERL, in collaboration with the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU), showcased the Federal experience in the use of delivery mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of government priorities. States were encouraged to consider establishing such mechanisms to drive delivery in the states. As a result, a number of states have indicated an interest in setting up a delivery system after due consultation with their Governors. However, the SSG of Delta state immediately requested for the CDCU to host his team on a learning visit.

The meeting featured presentations from resource persons and key Federal agencies including ITF, SMEDAN, NITDA, SMDF, NPHCDA, all geared towards instilling leadership principles and stimulating synergy across the tiers of government for development and employment creation in key sectors.

PERL is taking advantage of these forums to expand its knowledge base and partnerships for the purpose of creating value for partners and promoting joined-up working within and across governments.
